The Vocational Training Program is designed to enhance a person’s work skills and behaviors, while becoming familiar with work demands and employer expectations. Work tasks are provided in an industrial setting or community based site where supervision is available. Work experience may include packaging, light assembly, material handling, clerical, janitorial and lawn care. The Vocational Center has state of the art vocational evaluation tools, an interactive computer training room with 15 computers, and state of the art adaptive technologies. Everything is individualized to assist each person in acquiring essential skills needed to meet their vocational goals. We have an active and successful school-to-work transition program, and have staff skilled to work with persons with visual and hearing impairments, and autism spectrum disorders. Persons attend our Vocational Center with funding through several western Pennsylvania counties, The Office of Vocational Rehabilitation, and local school districts. For more information or referral, please contact Victoria Carvin, Program Coordinator at 412-447-0009 or nairnv@fswp.org.
