Throughout our history, Family Services has provided critical assistance to people facing challenges in their lives, ranging from behavior health diagnosis to children needing foster care. One of the organization’s early mottos “To Get the Right Thing Done” still applies to our current work.
Family Services provides life-changing programming to individuals and families throughout our region, while also spearheading important research and collaborations with other human service agencies. One of the reasons Family Services is able to meet the diverse needs of the people in our community is because we have developed many strong and supportive partnerships.
We are also fortunate to have the support of many individuals who believe in our mission. But we cannot do this work without the generous donations of people like you. A variety of giving opportunities exist at Family Services of Western Pennsylvania.

Running for Laptops runners raise money to purchase laptop computers for students who are part of the Educational Assistance Initiative of Family Services of Western Pennsylvania. This program provides resources to young people who are aging out of social services as they make the transition from high school to a post-secondary education. These kids have overcome a lot to get where they are and we are supporting them with the tools they need to continue their success. Visit http://www.runningforlaptops.org/ to see how you can run, donate or volunteer!

Advocacy is when citizens from a legislator’s home district deliver a message of importance and concern regarding a specific issue combined with a specific request for action pertaining to that issue. Family Services of Western Pennsylvania has a committee to help with this process.
Our Legislative Affairs Committee : (1) Promotes legislative activities; (2) Provides timely information to our staff on legislative issues affecting services and supports our programs provide for children, adults and families; (3) Provides representation and expertise on legislative issues that affect Behavioral Health, MH/MR and D & A services; and (4) Promotes collaborative relationships with groups and organizations important to the success of Family Services of Western Pennsylvania’s legislative interest.
