The
Bee Kind Program - a series of programs
designed to promote positive social skills.
The Bee Kind Program is actually a set of four,
half-hour programs presented in elementary schools and
day care centers. The programs use puppetry, literature,
verbal sharing and an art activity to reinforce the
concepts. The programs were developed specifically for
the preschool level through grade 2. Each half-hour
program can stand alone. However, we feel it is better
for children to view all four programs. Children need a
lot of positive reinforcement and we feel each program
helps to reinforce the preceding programs.
The programs are set up accordingly:
-
"Bee Kind" (our bee puppet mascot) greets the
children and discusses the meaning of being kind.
-
All Children are encouraged to participate.
-
The presenter reads or tells a brief story.
-
"Bee Kind" and the presenter discuss the story with
the children emphasizing the positive aspects of the
story.
-
The children are then directed in an art project
relating to the story.
-
While they work, the presenter moves among the
children offering verbal encouragement on their
efforts.
-
When the art project is complete, the children each
receive a "Bee Kind" sticker and are reminded to "Be
Kind".
-
A parent letter is sent home with each child to
inform the parent of the program and encourage them
to reinforce positive behavior in their children.
